Another opportunity to help a local family. Anita’s is hosting a fundraiser for Cathy Velarde to raise money for her to purchase hearing aids. She hasn’t heard her childrens’ voices in 9 years… as if that weren’t enough, she can not get a job without being able to communicate with others in good times, and she keeps to herself as it is cumbersome trying to communicate with those who do not know sign language. The bottom line is she doesn’t know a lot of people in the community and it will be tough to raise the money needed ($2,500) because she doesn’t have any family in the area, etc…
So, I would like to invite everyone to help if you can. First and foremost, by coming to Anita’s and meeting Cathy and her family and secondly, if you are able donate anything they family would be very appreciative (any donations can be dropped off at Anita’s Place). You may have met her kids as they have been doing the best that they can to spread the word.
Along with the Spaghetti Dinner… Salad, hot from the oven breadsticks, beverage, and bite size treats we call the Cinny Minnies. $18 per couple for good food and a chance to help a neighbor in need.
Thank you for your consideration! We hope to see you there! Sunday, March 29th 12-6 pm.
John, Dominic, Tony, and the Anita’s Place family.
As noted a few blogs ago, H and R Block Income Tax Preparer, Real Estate Consultants, Real Estate One Westrick (Tom Wagener and Wynne Achatz), and several shops at our Marine City K Mart Plaza held a Stimulas Day Party. I was given a booth at H & R BLOCk to hook up my computer and printer, several vendors had set up their tables out side to draw attention to H and R Block’s shop including myself. Children played games outside on the sidewalk, Tasefully Simple had a sample Table outside, A couple of the Local Eateries brought Pizza for lunch for us and passer bys. Broadway Pizza brought Chicken Parmesan Pizza and Bar B Q Chicken Pizza. Anitas sent over pepperoni Pizza.
The different shops invited each other to check out the other’s bargains. H and R Block made up flyers on the Stimulous Plan and Tax benefits of buying a home right now. I was on hand to help out anyone that may be interested in investing in a home or being a 1st time buyer to get the maximum tax credit.
We all had a lot of fun and had a good networking day. There was a lot of good Chi and Energy flowing today. We all left at 5 O’clock happy with spirits lifted with all our connections. Thanks to everyone that dropped by for making our day.
These days, tax credits and high housing inventory make it a buyers’ market. If you’re a seller, don’t despair. There are a variety of renovations that can help make your home stand out. Many buyers look at numerous homes when shopping for a house; so enhancing your home to make it more memorable is vital and increases the chances of a successful sale. Call 810-765.8167 today and let’s get that house SOLD!!!
On March 10th, the St. Clair County Community Services Coordinating Body is sponsoring our 2nd annual “Community Resource Fair” from 10am-4pm at St. Clair County Community College. This event is geared toward the growing number of county residents who are homeless or at-risk of becominghomeless. Last year’s Community Resource Fair drew a much larger crowd than we expected. We had approximately 650 people attend, over 35 vendors providing services, and more than 150 volunteers. We outgrew our facility before the doors even opened!
This year, with unemployment at an all-time high in our community, we are planning for a minimum of 1,500 attendees. We will be distributing personal hygiene kits, spring and summer clothing, and business attire. In addition, the Resource Fair will provide an array of community services, including on-site medication reviews, breast exams, mental health assessments, blood pressure checks, eyeglass repairs, haircuts, and more.
Please help us spread the word about this valuable community event. We could use your help with collecting personal hygiene items for the hygiene kits that will be distributed at this event. We are in need of 1,500 kits for men/women, and 500 for children. The following items will be included in the kits: Toothbrushes for adults and children Toothpaste for adults and children Bath toys for children Bubble bath for children Shampoo and conditioner for both adults and children disposable razors shaving cream full size bars of soap dental floss Deodorant. Items may be dropped off by Feb 13 at my office in Marine City:
