Prudence Wong’s Notes

Filed under: Prudence Wong, child safety — Wynne Achatz @ 5:39 am
Find out….What are the FIVE Words?
A boy was born to a couple after eleven years of marriage.
They were a loving couple and the boy was the gem of their eyes. When
the boy was around two years old, one morning the husband saw a
medicine bottle open. He was late for office so he asked his wife to
cap the bottle and keep it in the cupboard. His wife, preoccupied in
the kitchen totally forgot the matter.

The boy saw the bottle and playfully went to the bottle fascinated by
its color and drank it all. It happened to be a poisonous medicine
meant for adults in small dosages.

When the child collapsed the mother hurried him to the hospital. He
died. The mother was stunned. She was terrified how she was going to
face her husband.

When the distraught father came to the hospital and saw the dead
child, he looked at his wife and uttered just five words.

QUESTIONS :

1. What were the five words ?
2. What is the implication of this story?

Scroll down to read….

ANSWER :

The husband just said to his wife “I am with you Darling”.
The husband’s totally unexpected reaction is a proactive behavior. The
child is dead. He can never be brought back to life. There is no point
in finding fault with the mother.

Besides, if only he had taken time to keep the bottle away, this would
not have happened.

No one is to be blamed. She had also lost her only child.
What she needed at that moment was consolation and sympathy from the
husband. That is what he gave her. If everyone can look at life with
this kind of perspective, there would be much fewer problems in the
world. “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Take
off all your envies, jealousy, unforgiveness, selfishness, and fears .
And you will find things are actually not as difficult as you think.

MORAL OF THE STORY
This story is really worth reading. Sometimes we spend time in asking
who is responsible or whom to blame, whether in a relationship, in a
job or with the people we know. By this way we miss out some warmth in
human relationship.

Have a nice and blessed day

A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.

Cathy Velarde Needs Our Help

Cathy Velarde Needs Our Help

Another opportunity to help a local family.  Anita’s is hosting a fundraiser for Cathy Velarde to raise money for her to purchase hearing aids.  She hasn’t heard her childrens’ voices in 9 years… as if that weren’t enough, she can not get a job without being able to communicate with others in good times, and she keeps to herself as it is cumbersome trying to communicate with those who do not know sign language.  The bottom line is she doesn’t know a lot of people in the community and it will be tough to raise the money needed ($2,500) because she doesn’t have any family in the area, etc…

So, I would like to invite everyone to help if you can.  First and foremost, by coming to Anita’s and meeting Cathy and her family and secondly, if you are able donate anything they family would be very appreciative (any donations can be dropped off at Anita’s Place).  You may have met her kids as they have been doing the best that they can to spread the word.

Along with the Spaghetti Dinner… Salad, hot from the oven breadsticks, beverage, and bite size treats we call the Cinny Minnies.  $18 per couple for good food and a chance to help a neighbor in need.

Thank you for your consideration!  We hope to see you there!  Sunday, March 29th 12-6 pm.
John, Dominic, Tony, and the Anita’s Place family.

Today’s Stimulas Party Was A Success

Filed under: Local Events, Local News, Marine City, Michigan Real Estate — Wynne Achatz @ 8:53 pm

As noted a few blogs ago, H and R Block  Income Tax Preparer, Real Estate Consultants, Real Estate One Westrick (Tom Wagener and Wynne Achatz), and several shops at our Marine City K Mart Plaza held a Stimulas Day Party. I was given a booth at H & R BLOCk to hook up my computer and printer, several vendors had set up their tables out side to draw attention to H and R Block’s shop including myself. Children played games outside on the sidewalk, Tasefully Simple had a sample Table outside, A couple of the Local Eateries brought Pizza for lunch for us and passer bys. Broadway Pizza brought Chicken Parmesan Pizza and Bar B Q Chicken Pizza. Anitas sent over pepperoni Pizza.

The different shops invited each other to check out the other’s bargains. H and R Block made up flyers on the Stimulous Plan and Tax benefits of buying a home right now. I was on hand to help out anyone that may be interested in investing in a home or being a 1st time buyer to get the maximum tax credit.

We all had a lot of fun and had a good networking day. There was a lot of good Chi and Energy flowing today. We all left at 5 O’clock happy with spirits lifted with all our connections. Thanks to everyone that dropped by for making our day.

Be Careful

Watch Your Speed

Watch Your Speed

Starting March 1, 2009, Michigan will launch a 31 day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that $9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets, with an additional $3.5 million in revenue for failure to wear a seatbelt.. $1 million will go to pay state troopers overtime. There will be 47 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the main intersections and highways with the highest rates of speeding.

They are the following:

I-75, especially from the Ohio line north to Woodhaven, and again from Auburn Hills to Flint
I-96 east and west in its entirety
I-275 north and south
I-675 north and south
I-94 east and west from Battle Creek to Jackson
I-696 east and west in its entirety
I-196 east and west
US-131 north and south
I-69 east and west from Lansing to Flint and again from Flint eastward to Port Huron.
I-69 north and south from I-94 to Lansing
M-14 east and west from I-94 to I-275
M-39 from I-94 to I-96
M-59, especially from Pontiac to Utica, and from Utica east
US-10 from Midland to Bay City
US-23 from I-96 to Flint
US-27 from Lansing to Mt. Pleasant

Quotas:
5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Dodge Charger Police cruisers and canceled all vacation time. In addition, they are bringing in all of their part timers on full time for the month. This nonsense will conclude on April 1.
Driving Ticket fine increase in MI:
Starting on January 15th, the price of a ticket for violation of MI Law 39:3-29 (failure to show your driver’s license, registration, or proof of insurance card at the time you are stopped) went from $44.00 to $173.00. Please make sure your vehicles have the proper documents in them. If you jump in the car to run to the store and forget your wallet with your license in it and you are stopped…. Oh well… you just spent $173. And the fine for not having all three documents is $519!!!

Michigan Real Estate Asbestos Prevention Information

Filed under: Local News, Michigan Real Estate — Wynne Achatz @ 4:49 pm

Purchasing or moving into a new home is the investment of a lifetime. The path to home owner ship is also one that will bring additional responsibilities into your life. Used in many construction applications for the greater part of the 20th century, asbestos is a fibrous mineral that possesses many intrinsic traits.

In most situations, asbestos appears in roof shingles, dry wall, attic insulation, popcorn ceilings, joint compounds and electrical wires. It’s flame resistant and durable qualities made it an ideal choice for many industries.

Potential Michigan home buyers or those seeking to remodel an older home should be aware that homes built before 1980 may still contain asbestos materials. This is not to make you frightened because asbestos exposure is easily preventable by taking simple precautions. There are now many eco-sustainable options that replace the need for asbestos.

Asbestos that is in a good state is not considered harmful. If any asbestos is located in your home, the best thing to do is leave it un-disturbed until a home inspector can determine the best course of action. Although asbestos exposure does not always lead a related illness, long term inhalation of its fibers can cause a rare but severe ailment known as pleural mesothelioma . Approximately 2,000 to 3,000 new mesothelioma cases are reported every year in the United States alone, while researches are constantly searching for a mesothelioma cure.

According to the experts, the general rule of thumb is if the asbestos is in good shape, it’s posing no apparent risk. If it’s in bad shape, it could be a problem. In many situations, the best action in dealing with asbestos is no action at all. However, if an inspector deems removal necessary, it must be performed by a licensed abatement contractor who is trained in handling asbestos materials.

As responsible inhabitants of Earth, we are obligated to nurture and sustain this planet.  With growing education and technology in green sustainable energy and building resources, Michigan has taken actions to ensure safety and health is a top priority in this great state.  Non-profit organizations such as Michigan GREEN , consists of energy consultants and companies who have joined forces with schools, government agencies and conscious individuals to promote the cause of renewable and green efficiency throughout the U.S.

Recycled building materials that are viable options to asbestos include: cellulose, cotton fiber and lcynene foam. These environmentally sustainable products can also reduce annual energy costs by 25 to 35 percent. The move to a greener lifestyle will build on the change to healthier methods of building products, home remodeling and renovation. These new environmentally-sustainable alternatives create healthier, quieter and more energy efficient homes in the 21st century.
